In 1956 Ben Goldman and Irwin Russakov purchased, what was then Morgan-Craft Folding Doors for $6,000.00. The company name soon became Custom Fold Doors, which maintained its local in Hollywood, California. In 1960 CFD relocated to it's present location of Burbank, California. The following year Custom Fold Doors became incorporated. After seven years of successful sales, Hough Manufacturing (Hufcor) in Janesville, Wisconsin noticed CFD value in the marketplace and appointed CFD as an "open dealer, only to award them with full distributorship status in 1970. In 1968 Richard Weinberg became the stepson of Mr. Ben Goldman and at age of eight started working off and on during the summers, until 1983 when Mr. Weinberg came to work for CFD, on a full time basis. Eventually Richard Weinberg became the Vice President of the company until in 1998 was voted President by all of the stock holders. From those early years until now, Custom Fold Doors has remained a small family owned business, but has grown large in it's recognized name and commitment to personable, professional and prompt service. |
